Following in the footsteps of Scuderia Ferrari racing heritage with its proud and distinctive Italian legacy, the first Gran Premio which premiered as a pinnacle family within the Scuderia Ferrari watch collection, was inspired by the memorable 2002 ‘Enzo Ferrari’ road car. Last season, Gran Premio was given an aggressively sportier, dramatic black-out look inspired by the Ferrari FXX. Now for Fall/Winter 2016, Scuderia Ferrari dresses its Gran Premio line-up with new metallic tones and sportier colourways, driving this classic collection to new distinction. The 47 mm case, in solid, black or gold ion-plated stainless steel, is topped by a matching or contrasting sport bezel. The black carbon fibre-textured dial sports an applied metallic Scudetto in gunmetal grey or tonally matched to the case, a technical track with new fifths-of-a-second markings, and coloured and metallic accents. On the quartz-powered chronograph models, two metallic- or colour-rimmed sub dials are positioned horizontally at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, representing the gauges on a dashboard. On the automatic models, a cut-out red or steel plate suggestive of a car’s engine plate and secured to the dial by “bolts”, highlights and protects a window to the intricate workings of the movement. Both designs are available on a carbon fibre-textured black silicone strap that shows team pride with a boldly embossed Scudetto, or a free-falling stainless steel mesh deployment bracelet that offers wrist-conforming comfort. The Gran Premio line-up continues to include other automatic multi-eye designs and precise quartz-powered 3-hand day/date and chronograph models with matte black bi-level dials featuring finely textured centre zones and red seconds hands.
