Chhat is a long Kurta in solid black cotton mul, the very fine loose-woven cotton that reads almost translucent when you hold it up, which is where the sheerness in its name comes from. There is no print at all, so the fabric and the cut carry it entirely. The silhouette is a straight cut that skims rather than clings, with a V neckline and full-length sleeves left plain at the wrist. The garment is half lined through the body, which keeps the front and back opaque where it matters while the sleeves and the lower panels stay sheer. Mul creases readily and that is simply the character of the weave rather than a fault. It is light enough to be genuinely comfortable in heat. Individually tailored by hand and finished ready to wear. The sleeves are unlined entirely, so they stay sheer against the arm even where the body does not.
