by Drishti Mistry

Shopping in sets can sometimes become boring and restrictive and sometimes it’s fun to mix and match to let your creativity get the best of you. And even otherwise, it’s almost always a good idea to invest in pieces that look good when worn lone but also pair well with many other pieces in your wardrobe. While you are free to go all out and create your own looks and combinations from our mix and match sale, we thought we’ll put together a few looks for you, some that work indoors and some others that work outdoors, just in case you need help! Scroll down to find what they are…

For Indoors

Look 1: All white everything

Shop the look: White kurta – True Browns, 2,240, Palazzos – True Browns, 1,499, Flats – Catwalk, 999, Earrings – Joker and Witch, 549, Ring set – Fabula, 501

We can all agree that white is to comfort what mac is to cheese. For this at-home all-white outfit recipe, we’ve mixed one cool cotton kurta, a pair of pared-back palazzos, fun flats for flavor and a sprinkle of stackable jewellery for good measure!

Look 2: Dhoti off-duty

Shop the look: Tunic – Idalia, 2,100, Dhoti pants – Abhishti, 1,200, Earrings – Teejh by Joker & Witch, 699

What’s the number one rule of winning at work-from-home wardrobe? Wear your tops cuter and your bottoms breezier. We’re turning to this tie-up tunic and dhoti pants combo to get the job done, albeit with the ‘stick of butter’ approach. To complete the look, we’re snagging a pair of statement earrings.

Look 3: Skirt the issue

Shop the look: Kurti – Ritu Kumar, 3,135, Skirt – Jaipur Kurti, 775, Pins – Zohra,1,200, Kolhapuris – Jivaana, 999

Cotton kurti + slub skirt + cool Kolhapuris + pretty pins = The perfect look to take you from video conference calls to a virtual cocktail hour with your girls.

For Outdoors

Look 1: Fine print

Shop the look: Belted Kurta – Ritu Kumar, 4,250, Sharara Pants – Indya, 1,320, Juttis – Vareli Bafna, 4,125

When your festive wardrobe warrants a clash course in pairing prints, lean on this look. Pair a printed handkerchief hemline kurta with shiny sharara pants and belt it around the waist for an ‘east meets west’ appeal. Don’t forget to throw in a pair of embellished juttis and remember, when the prints are loud, keep the colours mute.

Look 2: Dupattas for days

Shop the look: Ethnic dress – Biba, 1,000, Dupatta – Mesmora, 675, Heels – Catwalk, 899, Bag – Hidesign, 4,896

Nothing like a dramatic dupatta to give your outfits a lift – they go with everything from salwar suits to shirt and skirt combos. We’re teaming this tasseled number with a cowl ethnic dress for both the boardroom and breezy brunches with the girls. For finishing touches we’re throwing in traditional tan sandals and a matching leather carryall.

Look 3: Take Cover

Shop the look: Jacket – Desi Weavess, 1,440, Pathani pants – Abhishti, 1,599, Potli bag – Ozel, 7,505, Mojaris – In Weave, 1,999

We can’t even begin to tell you about the ways an ethnic jacket like this one can come handy – it can replace your blouses for lehengas and sarees, it can double up as a cool cover-up for ethnic layering and it can be worn lone with your denims too for a fusion look. For this outdoorsy look we’re going with a gemstone theme and styling this amethyst jacket with a pair of emerald-hued pathani pants. Lastly, a pretty potli bag and multi-colour mojaris to zhuzh the look up.
