7 Types Of Jeans For Every Woman: There’s One To Flatter Every Body Type

Finding the perfect pair of jeans gives you the kind of happiness that can only come with an unlocked milestone, and that’s a fact. Found one that you can live in? EVEN BETTER! Comfortable, durable, and non-negotiable in every wardrobe, a good pair of denims can go with pretty much 80% of your clothes. Whether it’s paired with a kurti or a shirt, a basic tee or a dressy top, a pair of jeans will almost never disappoint. My earliest memory of the first denims I owned is a pair of slim fit jeans, which were all the rage back then. From owning one pair to having five different types of jeans in my wardrobe, my personal collection is testament of the fact that jeans are a classic, yet constantly changing. But, can you really have just one? Finding the right cut, colour, and type is essential to creating a look that will be one for the books. With so many different types of jeans for women out there, the options are endless. Here’s what we’d recommend investing in:

Skinny Jeans

These need no introduction – found in almost every girl’s closet, even Duchess Kate can’t do without her favourite pair. Whether you’re a low rise, mid rise, or a high rise jeans girl, skinny jeans come in all those variations and more. And no, they’re not just for lean people with long legs.

Best for: Hourglass body types

Mom Jeans

With the rise of the relaxed-fit, mom jeans are an almost obvious choice for dailywear. Just ask Hailey Bieber and Sofia Vergera. Reminiscent of the 90’s and the solution to finding jeans that don’t stick to your body, mom jeans became the go-to pair for women, globally. Whether you’re travelling or lounging at home, heading to work or a party, these jeans are appropriate for just about any shindig. They are tapered at the waist and loose around the legs, making them perfect for hourglass or pear-shaped bodies.

Best for: Hourglass or pear-shaped body type

Boyfriend Jeans

Made to fit like your boyfriend’s jeans would, we blame Marilyn Monroe – who wore her boyfriend’s denims for the first time – for our obsession with these. From Miley Cyrus to Rihanna, we’ve spotted some of our favourite artists in a comfy pair of boyfriend jeans, who have made them work with their own personal styles. Style it the casual way with a baggy t-shirt and sneakers, or take the high route by pairing it with a chic top and heels.

Best for: Inverted triangle body type

Bootcut Jeans

Not to be mixed up with flared bell-bottoms, boot cut jeans are slim fitting up until the knees and slightly flared out around the ankles. Everytime we put on a pair, we secretly hope we’d look as good as Jennifer Aniston and Kendall Jenner sporting a pair and being papped while off-duty (and on-duty). Paired with blazers, both celebs made a case for this comfy pair of jeans in their unique style. Got a pair of boots you’ve been itching to wear, these jeans present the perfect opportunity for it! Why else do you think they were named ‘boot cut’?

Best for: Apple-shaped and pear-shaped body type

Flared Jeans

A cross between bell-bottoms and boot cut, there isn’t much of a difference between flared and boot cut jeans except for the amount of flare it has at the hemline. Bootcut jeans have a small flare around the ankles, as opposed to flared jeans that start to get wider around the knees and below. Need some styling inspiration? We’d suggest looking out for all the times Gigi Hadid wore this style, and you’re sure to find some great #OOTD inspo.

Best for: Hourglass body type

Cargo Jeans

Wide-legged jeans but make them cargo – this newest GenZ obsession fits right into the ‘loose-fitted’ jeans category. Trendy and uber cool, they usually come high-waisted and appear baggy throughout. Cargo jeans are best paired with a fitted top, bodysuit or crop tops, to give them a more edgy look. Kim K and Kylie Jenner are proof of this fail-proof styling tip.

Best for: Rectangle-shaped body type

Jeggings

The perfect crossover between denims and leggings that we never asked for but totally needed! A trusty pair of jeggings are like a pair of super skinny jeans but better. As a person who swears by these, and pairs them with almost every kurti, crop top, tunic and shirt, I can say that a good pair of jeggings is non-negotiable. They are stretchy, mostly high-waisted and have an elasticated waist band for easy wear. It’s ticking off all the right boxes for us!

Best for: All body types
