These Designers Wowed Us On Day 4 of Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019

by Drishti Mistry

The second last day of Lakmé Fashion Week was sartorially saturated with a rich mix of established and emerging designers – Narendra Kumar, Arpita Mehta, Jayanti Reddy, Kunal Rawal, Dhruv Kapoor, Tahweave among others. Of this seriously stylish lot, the following designers stood out, some for their experimental approach and some others for their clever use of weaves, crafts and colours. Scroll down to find out the designers who had our heart and who we’re adding to our carts for the upcoming season…

Dhruv Kapoor

Retaining his signature red poppies print, Dhruv Kapoor presented a collection replete with tulle, applique and colour – think pastel pairings, sheer midi skirts and statement jackets. We loved his experimental approach to fall fashion as he steered clear of the typical autumnal hues and silhouettes.

431-88 By Shweta Kapur

Known for her avant-garde take on Indian wear and one-of-a-kind silhouettes, Kapur delivered a dose of glam with embellished concept saris, printed sets and satin soft dresses in a mix of monochrome, electric and autumnal colour palette. Cleverly injected hints of leather and sequin provided the perfect sartorial solution for evening wear woes.

Arpita Mehta

Expertly capturing the essence of the theme, ‘Blockbuster Brides’, Arpita Mehta, who is known for her boho-chic bridal wear, showcased yet another millennial-minded line-up of lehengas, saris, tunic sets in a popping colour palette of lemon yellow and rose pink with foil prints and mirror work. Fittingly, the young starlet, Ananya Pandey closed the show in an intricately embroidered rose pink lehenga minus the dupatta.

Tahweave

Inspired by the streets of Morocco, Tahweave’s ‘Kandisha’ collection revived age-old crafts by means of screen printing and handcrafted weaves. We loved how Sweta Tantia’s winter/festive mood board comprised of quintessentially fall hues such as burnt orange and navy blue interspersed with bright bursts of neon colours like hot pink and electric yellow. Further, deconstructed silhouettes and dainty embroideries rounded up the collection brilliantly.
