The Nitty Gritty Of Deepika And Ranveer’s Regal Wedding Wardrobe

by Editors

#DeepVeer was trending in our minds way before it broke the internet. Albeit the power couple kept their wedding sans paparazzi at the dreamy destination, Lake Como in Italy on November 14 th , our prayers were answered a day later as they released a number of images on their social media handles.
The festivities began with a beautiful mehendi ceremony for which both were dressed head-to-toe in Sabyasachi. Ranveer was styled in an angrakha with churidar and layered a short jacket over it. Deepika followed suit in the same colour palette- she layered her onion pink outfit with an intricately embroidered dupatta and a blood red shawl. Her look was accessorized heavily with traditional jewellery, like the 18 Karat gold multi-layered Rani haar we couldn’t stop gushing over!

Save the sangeet and mehendi ceremonies, they had two nuptials – one in Konkani style and the other with Sindhi traditions. The Konkani wedding ensembles styled by Sabyasachi had two changes for Deepika whereas Ranveer stuck to his kurta and veshti that featured a signature gold border throughout. For pre-nuptials, Deepika looked gorgeous in a beige suit by Sabyasachi as seen below.

For the Konkani wedding ceremony, Deepika wore a deep red Kanjeevaram Advaya sari with pure zari designed by Mr. K Radharaman from The House of Angadi – as per traditions, the saree was gifted by her mother Mrs. Ujjala Padukone- along with a Sabyasachi veil. The saree featured the Gandaberunda motif – a two-headed mythical bird which is also the state symbol of Karnataka. Mr. K Radharaman described the motif in further detail, “The Gandaberunda symbolizes royalty and tradition in equal measure. The two heads also connote prosperity and wisdom or material and spiritual wealth.”

For the Anand Karaj, Deepika channelled a traditional Sabyasachi bride with a blood red and gold lehenga choli and a traditionally embellished silk dupatta. The border ofthe dupatta featured auspicious vedic mantra ‘Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava’ and the artisanal Kiran- Gota lace that was specially sourced for the big day. Embracing the traditions further, she wore red chudaas with kalireys from Raabta by Rahul. The groom looked like royalty himself with a turban and layered necklaces. Keeping in line with Sindhi traditions, he carried a silver sword designed by Amrapali Jaipur that took six kaarigars and two months to craft. The handle was designed with emerald green enamelling and gold plating- featuring a tiger’s head depicting a war scene. When we say head-to-toe in Sabyasachi, we mean it- the bride and the groom’s feet were adorned with Sabyasachi x Louboutin juttis featuring the signature red soles and intricate embroideries. While Sabyasachi has joined forces with Christian Louboutin in the past, this was his first designer jutti collaboration.

Deepika donned a pristine gold Kanjeevaram saree with real zari designed by K Radharaman from The House of Angadi. This was another gift by her mother Mrs. Ujjala Padukone. Sabyasachi Mukherjee styled the look with heritage emerald jewellery that complemented the saree. On the other hand, Ranveer was styled in a custom Rohit Bal black sherwani with gold detailing.
