8 Nykaa Fashion Staffers share what they’re most grateful for on our 8th birthday

by Drishti Mistry

As we turn eight this year, we are celebrating our special day by reflecting on everything we’re grateful for during these testing times and even otherwise. And because we’re #in8together, below, eight Nykaa Fashion staffers or our #NykaaFashionArmy as we like to call them, share what’s inducing gratitude in their newly altered lives. Scroll down to find out what they had to say…

In these uncertain times, I’m grateful for having a job that allows me to work from the safety of my own home. For my house help and family that help care for my baby while I’m working. For online shopping that enables me to get essentials with a swipe and click and to window shop non-essentials (sigh!). For Netflix – oh what would I do without you? And lastly for all the people that work tirelessly to ensure we all get through this.

I’m immensely grateful for the food, my home and my family now more than ever before – we often forget what is truly important. With this lockdown, I’ve connected with my family on a deeper level. I’m baking with my mother and playing multiple board games with all of them. I’m extremely grateful for being at home and being safe with my family.

On the work front, I’m super grateful for a fun workingenvironment at Nykaa, with really encouraging peers and teams.Right now due to the lock down, I’m just extremely grateful for the time I get to spend with my family, playing games, cooking together, sipping some wine while creating memories. I’m also very grateful that I can finally take out some time for myself – I’m happy to be able to squeeze in a workout in the middle of the day if I feel like it.

Times are really hard and upsetting right now, but the one thing I’m really grateful for is the opportunity to spend time with my family. We’re doing house chores, cooking, watching movies, and just spending a lot of quality time together

When it comes to my work family, surviving this lockdown would have not been possible without my team. They have helped me stay motivated by always pushing the envelope with innovative ideas, finding new ways of working, staying connected and of course, having some laughs through all the work, the stressful Hangout calls and daily tasks. At home I am really grateful for my mum. She has been an absolute superwoman. From figuring out how to put three meals on the table for my family to being my videographer when needed for work to putting up with everyone’s mood swings caused by being cooped up and still not complaining when we choose to watch our choice of movies or TV shows – she really has been a trouper.

I feel immense gratitude for this time I am getting to spend with my family – with my husband and my daughter. I’m also loving the fact that I am back to working out every day which was otherwise taking a backseat due to the daily hustle bustle.

I’m really grateful for two things – to be in a company that really pushes and challenges me, I’ve learnt heaps here. And the time that I have at home and the hours that I’ve saved travelling – I’ve learnt how to cook, I’m studying French, reading philosophy (again) and also honing my gardening skills

I’m grateful that my office is close to home (not that we’re working from there right now) and I don’t end up spending half my day travelling to work amidst the Mumbai traffic. At the moment, I’m most grateful for the time that this lockdown is allowing me to rethink and evaluate aspects of life that I never got time to think about before. I’m taking this time to grow in every way and develop new vocations.
