The Most Beautiful Sarees Worth Handing Down Through Generations

by Aarohi Roy

When I was growing up, I remember staring at my mom wrapping the perfect saree. It was mesmerizing the way six yards of beautiful silks, cottons, Chanderis or chiffons could make her look taller, sleeker, chicer and most importantly, ten times more graceful than usual. I would eye her closet full of gorgeous sarees greedily, knowing that all of them would someday be mine.
An Indian girl’s most precious heirlooms are her mother’s sarees, especially the ones that she wore on special occasions. Keeping the tradition on, now that I myself can buy our generation’s best, I’m thinking of making my saree wardrobe ‘heirloom’ ready – where certain pieces can be handed down over generations.
Scroll through and take a look at every stunning saree styles I’ve bookmarked.
