I cleaned out my closet and these were the staples I was left with

by Editors

If you live in the 21st century and have a Netflix subscription, you’ve probably stumbled upon the series Tidying Up With Marie Kondo – a show in which Japanese author and expert organizer Marie Kondo (accompanied by her interpreter also named Marie) teaches American households to clear out the clutter and choose joy. Crucial to Kondo’s tidying up technique (hoarders beware) is one question – does it spark joy? If it does, it stays. If it doesn’t, it can be donated or discarded. So, this weekend, after I spent an unhealthy amount of time binge-watching the show, I was inspired to clean out my own wardrobe. The result was a closet made of staple separates including trousers that transition from noon to night, a pristine white kurta, a shirt dress that also doubles up as a transitional layer, a black jumpsuit and a camisole that looks just as good by itself as it does paired with the humble T-shirt. To help spread the joy, I’ve rounded up similar styles from our website.
