Round The Clock With Celebrity Stylist Isha Bhansali

by Shivani Chhabra

With her fearless fashion sensibilities and wardrobe-aesthetic that has taken the industry by storm, celebrity stylist Isha Bhansali is a force to reckon with. Be it flaunting her greys, or making fluid fashion look easy with the ensembles she puts together for actors like Ayushmann Khurrana—Isha is unapologetically and rather comfortably experimental. To put it mildly, she is changing the way men in Bollywood dress, one look at a time!
Recently, in a candid chat with us, she shared her thoughts on personal style, trends and all things in between. Take a look.
How would you describe your personal style aesthetic?
• My style is varied. You’ll find a little bit of many genres and moods. But my own style is fairly simple with always one or maximum two statement elements in the ensemble.
In 2021, what trends are you looking forward to adapting?
• I can’t get enough of athleisure. This year is more sporty, more couture meets street fashion, and it’s fresher. At the same time it’s more about sustainability with breathable fabrics.

What are the things you usually keep in mind when styling someone?
• It’s the person’s personality. Always. It should be a reflection of their personality to start with so that the person can carry it off effortlessly.

Are there any specific styles/pieces/ silhouettes that you love experimenting with when styling different individuals?
• I love layering. And there can be many silhouettes to achieve effective layering even in the most uncomfortable weather. Different kinds of layering work differently with people. And that’s what I enjoy the most.
What are some of your favourite looks that you’ve created?
• I enjoyed styling Ayushmann for the promotional tour of Shubh Mangal Zyaada Savdhan. All the looks were fun to put together.

How have your fashion sensibilities evolved over time?
• Over time I realised how much of current trends I need to incorporate in my styling. The right mix is important. It’s become more individualistic.

What would be your fashion advice to all the readers, especially men, out there?
• To start with — please don’t be afraid. Be confident. Fashion doesn’t question your gender. So if you decide to wear pink it doesn’t make you less of a man. Be more open minded and at the same time incorporate new elements into your own zone.
